Revolving Doors

by ...Whatever That Means

/
1.
Another year wasting all our time. Another six months of playing nothing new. You threw it all away. We’ll start again.
2.
Standing on the right, and you choose a side. Standing on the left. Yeah, you choose a side. Well, there’s not much we can say where we agree on any given day. But when a point comes along, and you know that it’s wrong, we gotta work together anyway. Let’s start with the president and confidence that she’s losing every day. You can’t just apologize, in the people’s eyes, and be merry on your way. And it’s fine if you found religion, but tell me who are you thinking of when it’s time to compromise? You’re telling lies. You’re selling us away today! Who are you working for?!
3.
I’ve been watching you the last so many days. So deplorable in oh so many ways. I won’t listen to a word you have to say. My open mind of shutting down. I’ve been watching you the last so many years. I’m reacting to the greatest of my fears. Vilifying you no matter what I’ve found. My feet are set on solid ground. I can’t be wrong, and I know you can’t right. You can’t be wrong, and you know I can’t be right. Can’t chalk it up to differences or find some common ground (I’m giving up!). Throw hands up in the air and burn it down (Let’s burn it down!)!
4.
The Inside 03:46
We always thought we’d make a difference by smashing all the lights along the way. Making everybody see we’re living life as loud as we can be. We always thought we’d make a difference by living every day for all it has. The future worries on itself. I’m living now, and I am living well. I used to think we’d make a difference. But when I look at the mirror in disguise, and there’s nothing left of me to recognize, so I’m dying on the inside cuz I’m hiding from the truth. Yeah, I’m dying on the inside. If there’s nothing left, then please just cut me loose. We always said we’d do it our way. Just make it all up and enjoy the ride. Doing what we know is right. Never living someone else’s life. We always said we’d do it our way, but when you can’t even look me in the eye, and I’m falling apart, it’s no surprise that I’m dying on the inside cuz I’m hiding from the truth. Yeah, I’m dying on the inside. If there’s nothing left, then please just cut me loose. When you look back on your life, do you ever think of me? When you look back on your life, do you ever think of me? Will you ever think of me?
5.
Well the talk on the street says you might go solo. A good friend of mine saw you leaving by the backdoor. I need to know. I need to know. If you think you’re gonna leave, then you better say so. I need to know. I need to know. Because I don’t know how long I can hold on. If you’re making me wait. If you’re leading me on, I need to know. Who would’ve thought that you’d fall for his line. All of a sudden, it’s me on the outside.
6.
Come on in. Make yourself at home, and maybe stay here for a while. Don’t waste your time on the outside looking in. Too many heads to count that have come and gone. Never seen or heard again. The rest of us are living with the lessons that we’ve learned. Where you grow up and where you’re from, they don’t always stay the same. When you find yourself somewhere, you’ll know just what to say. I’m going away. I’m going away. I found a home. Sixty-eight, twenty-two, Pennsylvania. I found a home. Come on in. Make yourself at home, and maybe stay here for a while. Don’t waste your time on the outside looking in. We all started the same on a single day. Then we chose to come back again. Now, we all carry on singing anthems of what we’ve learned.
7.
Red flags! Red flags! Red flags! Warning signs of impending doom! Red flags! Red flags! Red flags! Head down on his desk all day and in a book at night. No time for friends or fun. Success becomes his life. Insomnia and stress attacks before the age of nine. He doesn’t measure up. The Sooneung takes his life! Thinking that her only worth is in another’s eyes. Starving herself to death. She will not compromise. No one ever cared, and no one could identify. She’s never waking up, and nobody knows why! Pushed around. Can’t take it anymore. Once again, they’ve taken it too far. Pushed around. He’s finally had enough. A quiet Monday morn, and bullets start to fly!
8.
Another blowup. Another push away. Another night where you say you’re gonna leave me. No need to worry when I’m staying out late. I will find my way home. Find my way home. Interrogation. Who am I gonna see? Insinuation: You can’t put your trust in me. How could you even entertain the thought when you mean so much to me? Pray for direction cuz we don’t know where to go. We need intervention. We can’t do it all on our own. You’re not the good guy, and I know neither am I. Can we save the union as it is or has it already... You’re always saying you don’t know what you saw in me, and I reply with the words that I could never mean. So much regret in how we handle things. There are no excuses. No excuses. You say you’re lonely. You know I feel the same. Nobody dreams that this is how their’ll be. What is it that we’re even fighting for when there’s no end I can see? Pray for direction cuz we don’t know where to go. We need intervention. We can’t do it all on our own. You’re not the good guy, and I know neither am I. Can we save the union as it is, or has it already died? Has it already died? In the good times and the bad, whether sickness or in health, we swore we’d always love each other, but it seems, it makes no difference at all.
9.
Taking everything he has and losing it to give you all that he can. Never asking anyone for anything, but still you can’t take the plan. So to pick you up, put him down. Look around. Everyone’s laughing along with me. Can you hear it? To pick you up, put him down. Look around. Everyone’s laughing along with me. Hey, everybody. You’ve got so much to say. You spend your life telling lies. In the end, yeah, you know, they all fade away. Everything I do under the microscope. They’re gonna come after me. Taking any little thing I do, so you can question my integrity. So to pick you up, put me down. Look around. Everyone’s laughing along with me. Can you hear it? To pick you up, put me down. Look around. Everyone’s laughing along with me.
10.
I just can’t take it anymore. Every day, it’s all the same. You wake up to hate life and go back to sleep.
